Comparing We revisited two old games this week – “Build It” and “Roll and Record.” “Build It” helps us practice our counting with 1-to-1 matching, and “Roll and Record” helps us practice writing our numbers from 1-6. We also practiced comparing what we had more and less of. Then we used a unifix tower that was 10 cubes long to sort out objects that were longer than our tower and shorter than our tower. Then we grabbed handfuls of unifix cubes and made towers. We compared our tower to our partner’s tower. We recorded both towers and decided which tower had more cubes and which tower had less cubes. We are trying to trade pennies for dimes at the calendar – and we made another group of ten!

Meet Mr. Gg !
This week we met Mr. Gg.  Mr. Gg has gooey gum stuck in his hair.  We wrote a long list of Gg words this week.  We read books about goats, a smart goose, two friends names Gertie and Gossie, and the three billy goats named Gruff.  We added a goat to our letter books, because "gG is for goat."  Our new word wall word is "go. " We finished sentences that began "I am going to - ."  Every time one of us finished the sentences we clapped "go" and wrote it on our papers.  We looked for "g's in ÒMy Gg Book "and counted the words on each page of text.

FALL
We finished studying about fall this week.  To show what we learned, we drew pictures about fall.  Our job was to put as much information about fall as we could into our pictures.  We drew leaves that changed colors, pumpkins/jack-o-lanterns, gardens put to bed, animals looking for seeds and acorns, geese flying to warmer places, and warm hats.

Our Five Senses
We have been singing a song all about our five senses hearing, seeing, touching, smelling, and tasting.  We looked at pictures of popcorn popping, a bird singing, a fire truck, and a cat.  We had to think about which of our senses would help us learn about them.  We use our seeing, hearing, and touching to learn in school everyday.
