First Grade Readers
The past couple of weeks we have been reading from our National Geographic Young Explorer Magazine.  This magazine is purchased for us with funds raised through the PTG.  Each magazine has 3-4 stories that we read during shared reading and activities to go along with each one.  The students will keep the magazine in their reading folders for a few weeks and then will bring it home.

Investigations
We are turning into quite the mathematicians!  We have been playing Double Compare, Five-in-a-row, addition story problems and roll and record.  We are working on solving problems and recording our strategies using pictures, numbers and words.  The children love sharing their work with each other.  It's so nice to see them be so supportive of each others' learning.

Misc.
We are still looking for a parent volunteer to do library with the 1st and 2nd graders on Mondays.  If you are interested please let Mrs. Dodd or me know.  Training is available.

Thursday, October 29th:  Anti-Bully Kick Off with Randy Judkins.  More information to follow.

Wednesday, November 11th:  No school

Christmas Bazaar

The annual Christmas Bazaar was held on Thursday the 10th of December.
Thank you for any items that you might have donated. The students had a wonderful time “shopping” for their items and being able to get something for those at home. Thank you to all the volunteers that came to help with all the wrapping. I think that this is the best day for anyone to volunteer. You can certainly feel the Christmas spirit on this day!

We will be having a concert here at the Weymouth School on Monday the 22nd.
Everyone is welcome to come at 2:00-2:45 for this holiday event!

For the comfort of your child...

Please remember to bring in extra socks and shoes for your child to wear for when them come in from the cold and wet winter weather . Extra gloves and mittens are also good. Lots of times mittens are still damp or wet when they get ready to go home.  If you would like to leave an extra pair of sneakers for them here at school, they may keep them in their cubby.

Dates to remember...

Dec. 22nd        Music sing along at 2:15-2:45 led by our music teacher Ms. Gardner.  All are invited to come and sing along with us.
