Connecting to Dial-Up with MLTI Ibook
Connecting your ibook to a dialup connection requires 3 basic steps. Many of you will be calling your ISP to get help, have this document ready and explain to them you do not own the computer and it has special restrictions put on by the State of Maine. It would be best to wait until you have completed the first two steps before you call your ISP.
If you already know the number to dial, your account name (username) and password you may not need to contact your ISP.
Step 1: Change your location to Home.
You do this by going to the Blue Apple Menu in upper left corner of your ibook screen. Choose location and change to home.

Step 2: Open InternetConnet. It is located in the Applications folder on your harddrive.

Step 3: Click on the modem tab and fill in the telephone number of your dialup, the account (username) and your password. If you donŐt know this information you will need to contact your ISP. Check show modem in menu bar. Make sure your modem is plugged into a phone jack and click on connect
If your information is correct and you have a good phone line properly plugged in, your ibook should dial, connect and authenticate to your ISP.
You will now have Internet access. Please do not attempt to configure your private email account on the Ibook.
