YOU’VE GROWN AND BUILT A PIZZA . . .

. . . NOW IT’S TIME TO BUILD YOUR PIZZA EMPIRE!

Over the next few weeks, your team will design and plan your own pizza restaurant.  You will be considering the following as you develop your “Business Blueprint:”

$  Your company’s organization and location
$  Obtaining funds to start your business
$  Marketing and selling your pizzas
$  Costs and expenses to run your business
$  And other issues that will affect how you run a business, grow your company and make a profit!

Once your team has completed its Blueprint, you will present your plan to the class and to the “Banking Committee,” which consists of Mr. Tanguay and Mr. Nelson (from Bangor Savings Bank).

OBJECTIVE #1:
What’s in a Name?

The first task your team needs to do is decide on a name for your restaurant.  Be creative!

OBJECTIVE #2:  Choosing a Location

One of the first things you will need to decide is where to locate your restaurant.  You will be building your business in the town of Tanguayville, which has a population of 50,000 people.  According to marketing statistics, on average half the townspeople consume a pizza each week.

Harry Houselot is the local realtor at Tanguayville Realty and has prepared a list of properties for you to consider as potential restaurant locations.  Your first task is to review the listings and decide which location is best suited for your business and why.  As you discuss the locations with your team, answer the following questions:

1. What are the strengths of the location you have chosen?

2. Are there any weaknesses that you will need to overcome in running your business?

3. What is your cost each year to rent your location?

4. What makes the annual cost of your location worthwhile (remember, cheaper isn’t always better)?
