For Maine Schools Page VISION: Maine
students will be the most technologically literate in the world
Maine's Governor Angus King surprised
the
country in 2000 when he announced that he wanted to place $50 million
in a trust to fund giving every 7th grader in the state a laptop
computer. The Milken Family Foundation reports that in 1999 schools
spent
nearly $5.4 billion dollars on educational technology. Today
every 7th and 8th grader has the opportunity for one-to-one computer
learning!
