2005-2007
Summary of Progress in NCLB assessments
MSAD #34 has made excellent progress in improving student achievement levels on annual assessments from 2005 to 2007. During this time, all of our elementary schools, the Troy Howard Middle School and Belfast Area High School experienced overall positive growth in the number of students meeting standards on the Maine Educational Assessment and Maine High School Assessment. Administrators, Staff and Students have all worked hard to better prepare for the yearly testing, and efforts to engage in practice testing and learning test taking strategies have led to greater success. Our District-Wide work in the area of curriculum realignment to the 2007 Maine Learning Results will help us to continue this positive trend in student achievement during the 2008-2008 school year.
In 2006-2007 all of our Elementary Schools and the Belfast Area High School made Adequate Yearly Progress on state assessments by increasing the percentages of students meeting standards. The Troy Howard Middle School has made excellent progress toward achieving AYP as a result of a comprehensive school improvement plan involving staff development, development of professional learning committees, and implementation of school-wide formative assessment models. Having been identified as a Continuous Improvement Priority School, (CIPS) the middle school will continue to work on increasing student achievement throughout the 2008-2009 school year.
