MSAD #34 has adopted a new health curriculum entitled "The Great Body Shop"  for grades kindergarten through 5.  Lessons are taughtby the classroom teacher throughout the year on the following content areas:  safety, nutrition, the human body,disease prevention, substance abuse, community, environmental, personal and emotional health.  The school nurses are available as a resource to the teachers and may assist in presenting some health related topics.  

The MSAD 34 puberty education program is part of the health curriculum presented to 4th and 5th grade students.   Introduction to puberty begins in the 4th grade with more indepth information on the human reproductive system, and the physical and emotional changes that occur during puberty presented in the 5th grade.  The program is designed to be age-appropriate for students in these grades.  If questions arise, please contact the elementary school nurses, Chris Harrington or Judy Cookson or your child's classroom teacher.
